American Refractive Surgery Council

Dr. Parkhurst is honored to be a volunteer physician consultant for the American Refractive Surgery Council, which is a group of ophthalmic technology industry professionals and physicians whose mission is to educate the public about the relative risks, benefits, and alternatives of refractive surgery.

The ARSC recognizes that vision correction procedures have helped millions of people see better all around the world and believe many more could benefit if they more fully understood the procedures available and the clinical research behind them. People who suffer from poor vision are at a lifestyle, performance, and economic disadvantage. Whereas the lifestyle benefits of having excellent vision are many. The ARSC looks at the many factors that make people good candidates for refractive procedures in an independent and unbiased way. Through educational programs, the ARSC helps people like you make informed choices about one of the most important things we can do to help make a difference in our communities – improving the way people see the world.
